Southern Methodist University Academic Catalog
2026-2027
Use the Academic Catalog to explore degree programs, learn more about course offerings, and review academic policies and procedures.

Important Catalog Information
The University catalog and mid-term addenda represent the official version of SMU’s Bulletin and are managed and published by SMU's Office of the Registrar.
Archived copies of the official University catalogs, prior to the 2014-2015 academic year, are available in print in the Registrar’s Office. Official copies of the University catalogs are also available in digital form at www.smu.edu/libraries/digitalcollections/smucc.
The official University catalog and addendum take precedent over information published on a school's or department's website.
The University catalog is designed to help students quickly locate and save details about the University's undergraduate and graduate departments, degree programs, courses, faculty, campus information, and academic policies. Students are responsible for staying informed about changes and adhering to current policies and requirements.
The University catalog is intended to provide information and guidance, but it is not a complete or exhaustive source of all University rules and regulations.
Degree requirements are based on the catalog from the year of a student's initial enrollment. Archived academic catalogs and addenda for previous years may be found on the Registrar's Office Website:
